I read an article the other day that explored the idea that music is good for your health. There’s some mysterious direct link between music and our emotions. Music can hit us right where it counts, no matter the emotion - happy, sad, angry, lonely or ecstatic. Have you ever heard a song and felt better? Or heard a song that helped you express yourself more easily? Sure, we all have. The article got me thinking not just about music, but about singing and karaoke how it all affects us. We all know it’s fun; that’s why we do it - whether we’re in the shower or in our living room holding a magic microphone - we just get a kick out of it. And on some level, it’s not just fun; it can actually make us feel better.

There have been numerous times when I’ve turned on the magic microphone portable karaoke machine and specifically picked a song from the song chip that mirrored the mood I was in. Whether I did this by myself or with a couple of friends didn’t matter; I needed something to help me show how I was feeling. I’ve celebrated vacations, mourned break-ups and questioned life all while acting like the leadsinger of a famous band. And you know what? It not only felt good, it was a ton of fun! I’ve watched friends sing out in rebellious pride against their boss in the middle of my living room. They clearly had something to say and the magic mic sing along helped them say it. Interesting. And even more interesting, no matter what you sing about, everybody seems to have a smile on their face when their finished. Seems to me, music and singing isn’t just fun, it’s really, really good for us.

I remember being a little kid and singing along at the top of my lungs to my favorite record. I wanted to be a rock star - the leadsinger of the hottest rock band out there. Well, I don’t want to be a rock star anymore, but I still love singing along at the top of my lungs. And I know I’m not alone! Why do you think karaoke bars are so popular? Because everybody loves to grab that karaoke microphone, close their eyes and picture themselves belting out their favorite song while millions of fans scream their love for you. It’s a universal dream. That’s why those bars are so crowded - and why you have to wait so long to get your turn to grab the mic. Ever wait hours just to sing one song? Not quite the same thing as singing in your living room, is it?

That’s what makes the Magic Microphone so great - you can use it whenever you want for as long as you want. I used Magic Microphone at my last party and all my friends sang a ton of songs; nobody had to wait a long time for their turn. And we had a blast! One of my friends said it was the best karaoke player because it was so easy to use. She had gotten a karaoke rental for her last party and there were too many parts to set up; they never used it! But at my party we just plugged the microphone into my TV and started singing. My friend couldn’t believe that all the music was in those little song chips inside the microphone and all she had to do was push a button to get it going.

I’m not a little kid anymore, but I still get to be a rock star every once in a while… and my friends are my fans! It doesn’t get any better than that, does it?
